How to Save the World (script and drawings: Štěpánka Jislová, 8 pages, 2017)
This story was originally made for the Re-Animate Europe competition, organized by the Friedrich-Naumann-Stiftung Foundation with cooperation with the Comics Strip Center in Brussels. The story was chosen as one of the seven finalists out of more than 70 applicants and in the end ended up on the third place.
This Cris Ware-ish take on something in-between sequential info-graphic and comics is mapping a short period of life of a typical millennial, with their art schools and weird haircuts. Most of my peers tend to pick one or two issue to advocate, be it ecology, feminism or anything else. So, being at that time kinda obsessed with all kinds of self-help and self-development programs, I tried to piece together an IKEA manual on how to become a better person, since there’s a tutorial for everything nowadays. And spiritual awaking is just one click away.
